About

History

The following is a brief historical background on our church family that provides you with a better understanding and appreciation of where we are now and where we plan to be in the future. In 1981 a team of leaders moved to the greater Los Angeles area to reach young people for God. Among these leaders were Phil and Karen Bonasso, David and Sandy Houston, Bill Lloyd, Robert Atkinson and several other team members. They sacrificed homes, jobs, education, time and finances for one single goal: to plant churches that would reach students on the campuses of southern California. Over the last two decades, the churches have grown and influenced thousands of people through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We started campus ministries on seven colleges in Southern California. As a result of winning students and training ministry leaders, we planted several new churches in San Diego, Austin, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii. The most monumental event in our history is when this church became a part of a large family of churches worldwide named Every Nation (formerly Morning Star International). Every Nation formed in 1994 under the leadership of Pastor Rice Broocks, Pastor Phil Bonasso and Pastor Steve Murrell, authors of Biblical Foundations. Since the official founding of Every Nation, hundreds of new churches have been planted around the world and many others have joined our family of churches. We believe God desires for us to plant at least ten more churches here in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Our vision is to reach and influence every aspect of society from the campus to the community, from the university to the business world, from politics to education, from media to the entertainment world!

Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe there is one eternal, almighty and perfect God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We subscribe to the Apostle’s Creed, also known as the basic creed of Reformed churches. It has received this title because of its great antiquity; it dates from very early times in the Church, a half century or so from the last writings of the New Testament.

Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Amen.

*The word “catholic” refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
