Frederick K. C. Price (January 3, 1932 – February 12, 2021) was the founder of Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC). He was known for his Ever Increasing Faith ministries broadcast, which aired weekly on both television and radio.
Price was born in 1932 in Santa Monica, California, a Los Angeles suburb, the eldest son of Winifred and Frederick Price, Sr., who owned a janitorial service in West Los Angeles. Frederick attended Manual Arts High School and Dorsey High School in Los Angeles and then completed two years of schooling at Los Angeles City College.
While courting Betty, his high school sweetheart, he began attending church services with her. However, after their marriage, he stopped attending church regularly until a group of Los Angeles-area churches began sponsoring a week of old-fashioned tent revivals in the Crenshaw area. At one of these services, he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He served in ministry part-time while working as a paper cutter, as an assistant pastor in a Baptist church from 1955 to 1957.
In February 1970, Price received the baptism of the Holy Spirit which transformed his life, and within the same year co-founded Crenshaw Christian Center with his wife.
In November 1973, Price moved with about 300 church members from West Los Angeles in order to establish the Crenshaw Christian Center in Inglewood, California. Membership continued to grow and the church bought the old Pepperdine University campus as the 1700 seat auditorium was too small. After the purchase, Price oversaw the construction of a new sanctuary, called the “FaithDome” which at the time was the largest domed church in the United States.
Construction was completed in 1989 with the dome and the church’s property were both fully paid for, leaving the ministry debt-free.
In 1999 he wrote a book called “Race, Religion and Racism”. The book discussed that the most segregated place in America was the Church, clearly prophetic for his time. Mindy, one of the people you will meet today, was married to the Espanol Service pastor until he passed away 7 years ago. So racial integration was a big issue for the church.
Fred Price wrote over 50 books and influenced millions of people throughout the world. A devout husband, Mr. Price was married to Dr. Betty Price for 67 years. They have four children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Fred went to be with his Lord in February of this year.
3 things which marked his life:
Psalms 91:16- With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Proverbs 9:11- For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them”
Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”
